Kubásková, Monika ; Niederlová, Markéta (advisor) ; Šturma, Jaroslav (referee)
Bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of problem behavior in children with autism spectrum disorders. It defines the term autism spectrum disorders, brief description and the prevalence. It also discusses the problem behavior, the definition and specific examples. Attention is also paid to the causes and role of this behavior for children. It describes the most common problem behaviors and interventions that work with it. The theoretical part concludes with a chapter devoted to applied behavioral analysis, which is working with problem behavior very successful. Briefly outlines the history of this therapeutic approach, its basic principles when working with problem behavior and possible negatives. The empirical part contains a research proposal, which is thematically linked to previous findings. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Supporting self-care skills in children with autism spectrum disorder through applied behavioral analysis methods
Bergmannová, Klára ; Bartoňová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Květoňová, Lea (referee)
The thesis deals with the problem of learning self-care skills in children with autism spectrum disorder through the methods of applied behavior analysis. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the legislative framework of education in the Czech Republic with a focus on special education counselling and the provision of support measures in education. Furthermore, autism spectrum disorders are characterized and the basic theoretical foundations of applied behavior analysis are defined. The empirical part of the thesis is divided into two parts, the first of which aims to present the theoretical foundations of the problem of toilet training, developed mainly from foreign literature, as well as foreign studies conducted on the topic. The second part of the empirical part of the thesis contains a case study of two children with autism spectrum disorder. In the preparation of the empirical part of the thesis, the following techiques were used: analysis of the studied literature, review of foreign studies, document analysis and case study. The informants of the case study were two children with autism spectrum disorder who were trained in toilet training through applied behavior analysis methods. The case study is based on data from a behavioral intervention focused on toilet training. By analysing...
Applied Behavior Analysis, Therapy in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
HOLCOVÁ, Stela
The Bachelor's thesis focuses on applied behavioural analysis and therapy for children suffering from autism spectrum disorder. The Bachelor's thesis aims at analysing the opinion of parents of children with ASD on applied behavioural analysis. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical section contains six chapters discussing the theoretical definition of autism spectrum disorders and applied behavioural analysis. The practical part consists of a quantitative research strategy using a questionnaire survey method. The respondents were the parents of children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. A total of 205 respondents participated in the research. The obtained data were assessed using descriptive statistics in MS Excel software; the hypotheses were tested using IBM SPSS statistical software applying t-test and ANOVA techniques. The research results indicated that the awareness of parents of children diagnosed with ASD about the applied behavioural analysis is relatively high; nevertheless, a significant percentage of respondents had never been informed about this approach. Based on the research results, the attitude of parents of children with ASD towards applied behavioural analysis appears to be neutral. Parents generally did not observe any effects when the applied behavioural analysis was used. The first hypothesis investigated whether any positive effects of applied behavioural analysis were influenced by the type of autism, while the second hypothesis tested whether the age of their child influenced parents' more positive attitudes towards applied behavioural analysis. However, neither hypothesis was confirmed; the results failed to indicate any statistically significant difference. The Bachelor's thesis may provide feedback to therapists or organisations practising applied behaviour analysis. It may also help raise awareness of the therapy for parents of children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.
Occupational therapy and Applied behavioral analysis Subtitle: Interprofessional cooperation in children with autism spectrum disorder to promote success in mastering personal activities in daily living
Kiss-Szemán, Borbála Sára ; Rodová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Gerlichová, Markéta (referee)
The aim of this master's thesis is to describe the possibilities of interprofessional cooperation of an occupational therapist and a behavioral analyst in selected personal activities of daily living in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). With the help of activity analysis the view of both experts was demonstrated resulting in the description of their therapeutic intervention. The theoretical part describes the basic characteristics of ASD including selected personal activities of daily living with which children with ASD may have difficulties. The following chapters are about the basic principles of occupational therapy including the description of activity analysis, which is one of the important evaluation methods in occupational therapy. Furthermore the history and the basic characteristics of applied behavioral analysis (ABA) is described focusing on activity analysis used in the ABA program. The next chapter describes the common areas of both professions including shared elements and therapeutic approaches. The last chapter is devoted to the description of the interprofessional cooperation of an occupational therapy and a behavioral analyst. The practical part consists of 3 descriptive case studies in which an occupational therapist and a behavioral analyst performed a task analysis...

Project of class for puppils with autism implementing knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis
Petříková, Monika ; Hájková, Vanda (advisor) ; Felcmanová, Lenka (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to describe and evaluate the education of an autistic pupil in the mainstream school according to the principles of applied behavioural analysis. The default method is the Pennsylvania Verbal Behavior Project, which was implemented at a Czech primary school. The thesis presents a theoretical description of this educational method and its particular techniques. Their practical application is illustrated by the research case study report of a pupil, who was observed in my research. In this research case analysis, I have analysed the input skills of the observed pupil and his progress in particular areas and evaluated status not only according to the VB-MAPP diagnostic material. Description of the development of verbal behaviour is the core objective systematically developed by this educational method and it is an integral part of the pupil's active participation in joint learning. The thesis comes with a new perspective on the education of pupils with autism in the framework of common education at primary school. Pupils involved in this type of education can enter the school even though they are not yet adequately equipped with verbal skills and would not benefit from frontal teaching and common learning process. They are integrated into the ordinary class with respect to...
Function of positive reinforcement in a learning process.
Mrkosová, Dominika ; Hájková, Vanda (advisor) ; Květoňová, Lea (referee)
Diploma thesis focuses on effect of positive reinforcement and it's application in the learning process. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and analytical. Theoretical part describes importance of positive reinforcement in a learning process and behavior overall. How organisms acquire new skills and how effective teaching methods look like. Analytical part provides practical use of positive reinforcement in an effective teaching method called Discrete Trial Teaching. It's application, use, and correct implementation is provided through an example of teaching a motor imitation behavior. KEYWORDS Applied Behavior Analysis; Effective teaching methods; Positive Reinforcement; Principles of learning and behavior; Discrete Trial Teaching
